SLAC-m-182 April 1966 A HIGH FIELD 1.3m SUPERCONDUCTING SPLIT COIL MAGNET WITH FORCED LIQUID HELIUh’I COOLING
نویسنده
چکیده
The paper describes experiments with various superconducting type II cables and hollow conductor configurations, current distribution, size effect in superconductor and performance of multistranded superconducting stabilized cables and magnets. A 30 cm bore 70 kG split coil magnet with a total field energy of about 6 X lo6 joules currently being built at SLAC is presented and a new superconducting coil configuration with forced liquid helium cooling introduced, which will produce about 55 kG in the center of the SLAC lm liquid helium bubble chamber.

Experimental Production and Evaluation of Racetrack Coils for REBCO On-board Magnet
Work has been conducted to develop REBCO (Rare-Earth Barium Copper Oxide) magnets for Maglev. REBCO is one of several high temperature superconducting materials and has a high current density at high temperatures and in high magnetic field environments. The REBCO coated conductor will make it possible to raise the operating temperature of on-board magnets without increasing the coil weight. Sin...
متن کاملThe Superconducting Solenoid Magnets for MICE
The Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE) is a channel of superconducting solenoid magnets. The magnets in MICE are around the RF cavities, absorbers (liquid or solid) and the primary particle detectors [1], [2]. The MICE superconducting solenoid system consists of eighteen coils that are grouped in three types of magnet assemblies. The cooling channel consists of two complete cell of an SF...
متن کاملExperimental Investigation of High-Temperature Superconducting Magnet for Maglev
The use of high-temperature superconducting wires (HTS wires) in on-board superconducting magnets for maglev has several advantages such as improvement in the stability of the superconducting magnet, improvement in reliability through simplification of the magnet structure, and decrease in the mass of the superconducting magnet and energy consumed by the on-board cryocooler. To demonstrate the ...
متن کاملSuperconducting Magnets for High Energy
Center With the availability of high energy accelerators the need for powerful experimental, beam transport and special magnets is steadily increasing. Experimental high field large volume watercooled or conventional magnets would have power requirements which would be economically unsound. Superconducting magnets have reached a stage where they can be incorporated in connection with high energ...
متن کاملConceptual design of the superconducting magnet for the 250 MeV proton cyclotron
BACKGROUND The superconducting cyclotron is of great importance to treat cancer parts of the body. To reduce the operation costs, a superconducting magnet system for the 250 MeV proton cyclotron was designed to confirm the feasibility of the superconducting cyclotron. FINDINGS The superconducting magnet system consists of a pair of split coils, the cryostat and a pair of binary high temperatu...
